Create this special sketchbook kit for your upcoming travels, or daily wanderings, that can hold books, pens, pencils, brushes, and a small watercolor palette. This workshop includes demonstrations on how to bind a pamphlet book, a ledger book, and how to hand sew a Japanese tsunobukuro style bag that will keep your supplies organized for your creative adventures.

Materials

  • 10 pieces of paper measuring 4 x 6 inches
  • 5 pieces of paper measuring 4 x 12 inches
  • 1 piece of fabric measuring 8 x 24 inches
  • Ribbon or twill tape measuring 1/2 inch x 20 inches or one piece of fabric measuring 1 1/2 x 20 inches (this will be made into a tie)
  • Thread
  • Scissors or rotary cutter
  • Cutting mat
  • Awl
  • Needles to fit your threads
  • Pins
  • Straight edge ruler or quilting ruler
  • Paper clips or quilt clips (2)

She combines textiles, paper, found items and imagery to create books, objects, wall pieces, garments, and installations. Her current work is inspired by the art of repair, reuse, and imagery and stories encountered in her travels and everyday.
