This course guides you through creating a beautiful embroidered cushion featuring nine hand stitched squares using blanket stitch.
Materials
- Sewing machine - basic straight stitch is fine
- Sharp scissors
- Ruler or tape measure
- Pins
- Erasable fabric marker or tailor chalk so marks will not show when finished
- Fabric - firm linen or cotton is ideal or a large mans cotton shirt (the front can be used for the back of the cushion as an opening)
- Quantity of fabric needed - Cushion front 17cm x 17cm (6 3/4inches) - cut nine pieces. Cushion back 47 x 33 cm (19 x 13 inches) cut two pieces.
- Thread - Contrast embroidery floss or Japanese Sashiko thread for stitching the arches
- Matching machine thread to sew your squares and cushion together
