Get the VIP PassIn this workshop, use simple stitches and scraps of precious cloth to make a bookmark or keepsake. This is a great way to remember family, friends and special places, to use up small craps of fabric, and to spend some time stitching in hand with your favourite fabrics and threads.
Materials

Scraps of fabric, I like to use cloth from family members to make a special keepsake, but any scraps of fabric are fine. They will be cut into small rectangles, about 7cm by 3cm

One larger piece of fabric to be used as a backing, a rectangle that’s about 25cm by 12cm will be heaps.

Embroidery threads. Whatever you prefer to stitch with. I often use stranded embroidery cotton, cotton a broder #16 or #25, perle cotton #8 or #12
Essential: -
Sewing needle. Whatever you like stitching with. A sharp embroidery needle is great.

Sharp fabric scissors
Optional but handy: -
A couple of small clips

Growing up in a family of makers, textiles have always been a way for Michelle to connect with her history and the people she loves. Her ongoing work with inherited and cherished family cloth transforms these materials into keepsakes that honour relationships, preserve memories, and are often gifted back to family members. Michelle's workshops invite participants to explore their own stories through slow stitching, creating meaningful objects from textiles that carry personal significance.
