Get the VIP PassUsing a hand motif as a starting point, this workshop explores layered cloth, appliqué, faux chenille and hand stitch to create richly textured surfaces. Through playful experimentation with positive and negative space, you'll discover ways to develop a piece that is uniquely your own.
Materials

Gather a selection of natural fabrics in a range of weights and textures. You might include:

Linen and cotton scraps

Scrim, muslin or cheesecloth

Chiffon, lace or other translucent fabrics

Denim, corduroy or other heavier woven fabrics

Embroidered or textured cloth

Naturally dyed fabrics (if you have
them)

Thin card

Needle and thread and/or sewing machine
